Why not get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and spend some special time in silence, sharpening your senses, and facing yourself?
Mt. Takao is a power spot that has long been considered the home of gods in mountain worship. A silent retreat in the clear air, beautiful nature, and silence will free you from your busy daily life and refresh your mind and body. It is the perfect place to deepen your practice. It would be even better if you could experience the descent of a Tengu and be bathed in a majestic aura.
The purpose of a silent retreat is to encourage deep self-talk through silence.
Speaking is an important act that allows you to feel a connection with the other person. However, sometimes you may end up neglecting your own opinions and feelings while trying to imagine the other person's reaction, meet their expectations, or try to fit in with them. Spending a day in silence will allow you to escape from your everyday life and have a special time to face yourself. Without trying to fit in with anyone, you simply continue to listen to your own voice. Friends who share the same space. You will realize that you are feeling reassured and courageous as you feel a sense of unity that goes beyond words. It will be such a valuable experience.
We have a wide variety of programs available. Start with walking meditation. Slowly climb the main approach to Takao-san Yakuo-in Temple, Route 1 (about 5km) , while noticing the senses of your body and the voices of nature. The approach is paved, so it is a relatively easy climb. The training consists of a total of 5 hours, 2 hours in the morning session, 1 hour in the lunch session, and 2 hours in the afternoon session. Through various types of meditation, mindful eating, self-reflective journaling, yoga that listens to the voice of your body, and nature observation, you will spend time sharpening your five senses and connecting deeply with yourself. The fountain of awareness that arises from various experiences will awaken your true self. It will be a luxurious time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Safe for beginners and experienced users alike
This program is safe for those with no prior experience of meditation or yoga, but it is also a great opportunity for those with some experience to deepen their practice.
Vegetarian cuisine at Takao-san Yakuo-in Temple
The shojin ryori (traditional vegetarian cuisine), made with colorful seasonal vegetables, gently satisfies both the body and mind. Eating shojin ryori in the natural surroundings of Mount Takao is an exceptional experience.

- 8:00 Meet in front of Kiyotaki Station on the Mount Takao Cable Car
- 8:10 Start walking along Takao-san Yakuo-in Temple Approach Route 1 to the summit (70 minutes on a paved road)
- 10:00 "Morning session"
- Open your airways with heart-opening stretches
- Improve your mood with focused meditation
- Journaling
- 12:00 "Lunch" Mindful Eating - Enjoying shojin ryori (traditional Japanese cuisine)
- 13:00 "Afternoon Session"
- Listen to your body with mindful yoga
