Mindfulness training session in Takao Forest for a major financial consulting firm at an off-site meeting!

Recently, I was asked by a major financial consulting firm and had the opportunity to conduct mindfulness training at an off-site meeting.

The request is

--------------------------------------

Our customers requested that "through a mindfulness experience, we would like to refresh our brains, improve our concentration, and lead to improved work performance." In addition, since many customers like to hear about basic theories, we decided to include lectures on what mindfulness meditation is, incorporating as much scientific evidence as possible.

The person in charge came to the studio beforehand to try out the "Mindfulness for Beginners" class, so we were able to hear more specific requests regarding the content.

Mindfulness is a new member

Although most of the group was experiencing mindfulness for the first time, everyone enjoyed participating.

Program Content

--------------------------------------

I don't usually give lectures using slides, but this time, in response to an enthusiastic request from my clients, I started by defining mindfulness, then talked about its history, effects, and research, while using slides to look at the latest trends in mindfulness!

When you talk like this, you have visual support, so it's easier to remember.

I thought it was a good premise to start practicing. (Although this is just my own opinion.)

The first practice was a walking meditation that connected with nature using the five senses.

By continuing to focus your attention on your body and mind, you can experience connection by using all five senses.

You will also realize that we humans have achieved a difficult feat that can almost be called a miracle: walking on two legs. It may sound exaggerated, but when you realize how delicate and precise the everyday act of walking is, you will naturally feel gratitude and respect for yourself. It is such a grand practice, but first you naturally become aware of how you walk, how to maintain your balance, and how difficult it is, and then adjust while facing yourself. The connection and balance between body and mind. It is a good practice to promote self-adjustment and self-concordance. It is a practice that is easy to incorporate into your life even for busy people.

Next, we created a section focused on improving focus.

We talked about what concentration is, and the relationship between concentration, the brain, and mindfulness, citing several studies, and then practiced a meditation technique that helps you concentrate by counting.

The final section is about controlling emotions.

Once they had gotten used to it, we moved on to practice controlling emotions and observing emotions along with breathing. After a brief talk about what emotions are and how to control emotions, the participants were paired up and practiced finding and letting go of emotions. Rather than suppressing emotions that appear and disappear, they accepted them and let them go. It was a slightly difficult exercise, but everyone seemed to enjoy it, so I think it was good. After that, we did some sitting meditation and tried to sit down so that we could be with our emotions. I noticed that the participants were much more focused than when we started the training.

After the program

People shared comments such as "my body feels lighter" and "my mind feels clearer," and some people actively asked questions about how they would like to practice in the future, so it seems that interest in mindfulness has increased.

The person in charge also emailed me saying that because of the nature of his job he spends a lot of time looking at the computer and thinking, it was a very good opportunity for him to face himself through meditation, and that he thinks it is important to do it on an ongoing basis, so he hopes to incorporate what he learned this time into his daily life.

The atmosphere in the company was very good, and the opening greeting from my supervisor was in the form of a quiz, which was very interesting. I think that the environment was created in a good way from the beginning, so I was able to work in an open manner. Thank you for your sincere support until the end.
